Re: L397s Spawning :):):)
Well in my tank, courgette is proving very popular - see the photo!
To be fair, I have also seen one of the L397 fry on the courgette tonight, but it evaded the camera. There's one visible in the picture if you look hard enough, it's just not on the food.

Re: L397s Spawning :):):)
I spotted him/her. But I also noticed the snails, although you mentioned before they help keep the substrate clean, Just a tip. Be aware a regular supply of veg is just like conditioning fish to spawn, the numbers of MTS can increase. Very rapidly becoming a pain in the butt if you let them. ;)

A careful tank inspection this evening and there are certainly 10 little ones, quite possibly more
Here's a few pics of some of the youngsters, plus some of the adults

Mine are measuring about the same almost. Found another 2 fry in the tank. Was going to have a look for more. Thought best to leave it. 2 boys trapping, 2 females waiting and a disgruntled looking male, keep wondering why don't he get inside his own cave .

Re: L397s Spawning :):):)
I guess yours are growing more quickly with targeted feeding, whereas mine are just scavenging in the parents' tank.
I'm considering spreading mine around some of my other tanks rather than putting them all in a tank together.

Re: L397s Spawning :):):)
IMO Paul not as a criticism, I'd personally recommend that it's best to keep them all together in one tank. I have found they group together in one area I rarely see them exploring for food they usually are in a corner were some of the courgette goes. I have also found them to be very fragile. Whether you move them there's a decision to make. A relatively small tank is better for feeding. But you might be in the predicament I was. I decided on choosing on a good size tank in case parents got busy and needed a bigger tank anyway. It had slowed the parents of mine down though as I have been regularly tending to the fry tank on the shelf below.

Re: L397s Spawning :):):)
Well since last night there's been a male trapping. I'm led to believe there's a possibility he's trapped two females at the same time. As only three of the five made a dash at feeding time. Another female showing interest in him, but not much space in the cave. As for the fry tank it looks like they finally have developed the teeth they use to eat wood, going by the amount of syphoning out panaqolus poop is required

Re: L397s Spawning :):):)
Found male that's was trapping in pic above alone in cave fanning, dad dancing etc. On closer inspection he's got something to hide. Another clutch of 40- 50 eggs. . Just as well I freed up fry tank, the other day, by moving the 2 mnth old juvies back with parents. One's with a bit less of an egg sack getting their stripy noses.
Thanks Teresa

Re: L397s Spawning :):):)
Sounds like you're doing really well! Congrats
I've been away a lot recently, not too much to report except that the little'uns are growing slowly. It's impossible to count them in the tangle of logs and roots, but I have seen at least 6 at the same time. They're eating Repashy cubes and bell pepper, as well as wood. Here's a couple of photos I took this morning, when one decided to pose for me. Sorry about the photo quality, it's very gloomy in there.

I don't think so; I don't often see them very closely but I think most are striped. This one seems to have slightly different markings.

I have a stunning marked one from my latest batch also, most are marked similarly, pic is a bit blurry. Will be growing on these to adults and swap males and females from the next good lookers, to mix blodlines. Get them breeding and hopefully produce some nice grandkids

After a problem with another tank in the fish room, been sorted now, (a filter broke) but I had to urgently address the situation.
I checked in on L397 tank to find dad had kicked eggs and some fry that had hatched already. I placed fry in the breeder box. Eggs in the tumbler. Then watched most of the babies hatch over the next hour or so. Couldn't help but notice this pair! hopefully will be more eggs tomorrow morning!
