I wouldn't wanna go any smaller than 5 foot by 30" wide - preferably bigger

This is a hard one for me. Unconventional. They don't grow that big but have extremely long barbels and extensions and almost always their snout is bent up due to injuries. Hence, I'd probably agree with Richard.
Long time ago, I've had a 1'-er that starved to death rather than take non-live food but IDK how wide spread such resistance is in these.

I only ever had one (when I was in the trade) about 10" TL. Delicate looking creature with 'normal' nose. Not a fussy eater at all - prawn, cod, squid pieces etc. Kept in a 6x2x2. Never 100% settled as it was easily startled & was 'uncomfortable as it's barbels were pretty much always in contact with tank sides or rockwork & it knew it was 'enclosed'. Eventually it's nose worked it's way up to nearly 90 degrees after repeatedly bashing it when spooked
This may be one of those species best kept in long, very wide containers, pools etc

Perhaps a slanted-side pool, where there isn't a perpendicular edge to collide with?Richard B wrote:This may be one of those species best kept in long, very wide containers, pools etc
