Are they uniquely shaped? Soloni & Caudalis aren't far off.... although we don't see these too often

They are a fantastic species & the only syno I've seen use their mouth to cling to the glass like a pleco (or chiloglanis)

Pretty sure I've never seen a S. caudalis in the flesh and I might have seen a S. soloni a couple of years ago (Chris Ralph, who did the Chrysichthys ornatus COTM article, took this lovely fish home after the auction winner handed it back in).

The S. soloni looked a bit like my biggest female S. brichardi, but one of my males (not sure about sex of third specimen) has almost a perfect cylinder-shaped body.

I sort of regret not buying 6+ S. brichardi when I put this trio together ~3-5 years ago, I don;t get to fish stores so often these days and when I do, any non-hybrid S. brichardi now seem to sell for ~£30+ when I got mine for <£20 each.

Watching them use their mouth to hold their position against flow is pretty cool, my quartet of Euchilichthys do this at times also, wish I could change the output position of my Eheim Powerline XL to encourage them to do this more often!

As someone who is awful at updating my own "My cats" list (I have 10+ Mochokidae species in my tanks), you should add your specimens to the site's database.

I too have acquired a Brichard's syno within the past few months. I don't see them as regularly as I used to in the 1990's and when I saw this one and saw that it looked healthy, I bought it. It is also wild caught from the Congo.

I changed up the lighting on my tank in an effort to get more plant growth and the algae on the glass grew very quickly since the last water change. One can see the marks made by the Brichard's syno rasping at the algae. I'll see if I can get some pics tonight. The one that I have is also now trained to hand feed in the upper right corner of the tank. All I need to do it tap on the glass and this catfish swims right up to that corner now.
