"New" Pseudacanthicus sp?

"New" Pseudacanthicus sp?

Hi Everyone.

I haven't post here in a few years but I hope some of you remember me. Haakon things it could be Pseudacanthicus sp Hystrix but I haven't seen anything quite like it ever but again I don't spend much time online like some of you.

Any comments will be great privately or the forum

Irrespective of what we call it, which is complex (isn't it always!) I would agree and say it is this:
Pseudacanthicus histrix

Nice specimen....I agree with Jools that it probaly is the Histrix.

It has a nice pattern but sometimes the pattern disappears when the pleco gets older. Nice example; the L065

Are you comparing that to your fish at the top of this thread? If so, IMHO, the dorsal fin looks very different, as do some other features.

Yeah... I thought so too...
It is not so easy when no other resources are found to compare with. I hate to think that this will be a 1 off specimen found.

Well, from what others are saying, by the time that fish grows up, its colors will have changed and it will look more like a typical adult. That said, we don't have any photos of juvenile P. histrix on the CLOG page. Could we please upload your photos to the CLOG page for this species?
