I read corys are from small shallow streams in Brazil where the average temperature is 26C / 79F. I also read they like tank set ups that are way cooler - below 74F. So:

This is an over broad generalisation if you're asking the question about all Corys. They come from many more countries than just Brazil and they and their close relatives can be found in a wide range of conditions.
