Which Auchenipterids are being kept by PC members?

Personally, I don't see any reason to lock it. Threads tend to close themselves when interest or inclination run out - I don't think this should be any exception and I certainly wouldn't want anyone newly enthusiastic about auchenipterids to be closed out. Part of the thing that makes PlanetCatfish not Facebook is that old threads can be found and resurrected.

The challenge is for all remaining woodcat enthusiasts that are "PC members" to carry the torch.

I agree with what Jools 100% this thread inspired me to get into Centromochlus and am looking forward to when I can blog about my specimens and succesess. I'm hoping to reproduce Centromochlus reticulatus and make them available to aquarist in my province (Maybe even throught out Canada!).

I think they're the same thing as Wrasse has. They've been in the UK a couple of times, I think the consensus is that they're a n. sp.

I am not sure we've got them on the site.

This is one family of catfish that needs re-classifying... Tatia and Centromochlids.

The above fish has a similar pattern to Tatia Brunnea. I asked Steven Grant his view - 'I've checked the neurocranium of your fish and they do not match brunnea. Colour pattern is similar but osteology is different'...

(or, at least, what we think it is) for some time now and a group that was also imported at the same time as Richard's fishes. When similar sizes they looked very similar but I have changed my mind on them over time. They're just not the same thing when compared as adult fishes.

I've not looked at osteology, nor have I considered geography. However, I have seen the larger growing fish in small size now and they have thresher caudal fins, plus they grow to three times the size and have different caudal and adipose fin morphology when larger. I strongly suspect someone looking at them professionally would find more differences. The patterning is very similar but I am not sure that counts for a lot given the other differences.

As a side note, it would be good to update the

entry with an SL of Kruseman's fishes - is that known? I think the info there is that from the description which is usually a minimum maximum size!

After a couple of months I realeased my two Tatia strigata in the tank where their father and mother and uncle reside.
They're about 5 cm now and doing fine.
By the way: It's a boy and a girl!

I was particularly interested in the spotting density on the bodies as it doesn't appear to be consistent with overall size.

A difference between the sexes? Something else?

Probably a nice chance for Dutch, Belgian or German Auchenipteridae fans: Tympanopleura spec. 3, now available at Utaka, Amersfoort.
A rare find over here.
Imho this is the best aquatic store in The Netherlands, so always worth a visit.

Drastic decisions ahead. If all is well, I will visit Utaka next Saturday. Not to obtain the above Ageneiosus, but to hand in my remaining auchenipterids.
And as the Hypoptopoma are also on the list of outgoing fishes, this implies that I will not only have no more auchenipterids, but also no more catfishes at all as of next week. That's something new......

Me too, but on the other hand I also feel relieved. As said, I may have been keeping invisible fishes for too long and I felt I had to do something new or stop completely.
I have really been thinking very hard about keeping either less individuals per species or keeping just one species, but in either case there's still going to be the fact that they will remain invisible.
Wrt the fishes: they are going to a good place. The owner of the Utaka LFS appreciates them and I'm sure he will provide good new homes for them.

Last summer I got inspired by the Dordogne once again, so I'm going to make the tank more open (less wood, some stones, more current). The inhabitants are going to be barbs (Sahyadria denisonii and Dawkinsia filamentosa), combined with Awaous gobies. That should give me plenty to see.
I'm on the lookout for Mystus bimaculatus, for I should really have one catfish species in my tank.
Until I find these, I will have to do with the Ictalurus in the pond.
