L137 is it just an L310 or LDA051
To start, I just want to say, "I wish that all Loricariidae owners and enthusiasts would use the L# or the scientific names of these wonderful species." With that said, I have an individual arguing with me (yes on Face Book, LOL) that he and several others refer to the L310 as a Rusty or Bruno pleco and I have never heard of or referred to that as such myself. You list the Rusty/Bruno as a Hypostomus sp. (L077). This all arose when I posted pictures of my L137. A gentleman chimed in and said, "that looks like my Rusty, my L310". When I replied with, "the Rusty is the L077", he quickly posted a picture of his L310 which looks very similar to my L137 and the L310.
My question is this, can you all help me with some info to clarify this discussion? All I want to know is, what is the difference (besides location) between the L137 and L310, and why do you have the "Rusty" listed as the L077 where so many other sites have it listed as the L310?

I thought there was a sticky on "L-numbers"
Here's one for MFK: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forum ... ion.59585/

Well neither the "sticky" nor the link helped in any way to answer my question. Anyone from this website can help with my request?

Here's a scientific paper on the subject: http://dx.doi.org/10.1590/1982-0224-20130162

In addition to the paper which describes the differences, Bruno or Rusty was the name or nickname of the fisherman who often caught and sold L077 before l-numbers were invented. This have rather moved on since then - I need to review these related species to update current common name usage.
