Is this a pictus?

Post by fishmerised »

Image This fish is about 13cm (5") long and has doubled it's size since I bought it 3 years ago. The aquarium store guy said it was an African catfish that could grow up to 2 foot long.

I can't seem to get the photobucket video to play. Anyone know how else to upload a video?

It's not a pictus, rather a , probably or some kind of hybrid. And, yes, it's from Africa.

It won't grow to 2 feet. Maybe 8-9" max.

Great thanks! I never could have kept a 2 foot catfish; I was planning on selling it if it grew too big. My computer must be playing up because I can't get photobucket to play. Here is the youtube link anyway in case anyone else has a problem viewing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1y4R8UR ... e=youtu.be

I say it is for sure a hybrid syno...but you could still use the size given by racoll above for a max size.
