No Fishing In Seychelles

Post by Shovelnose »

I had gone to Seychelles last week but was unfortunately forbidden to go anywhere near water (fresh that is :d ) by friends. So,all I could do was get a few measly snaps of a fisherman's catch who also said freshwater fish were not considered food.
I was asked to be careful while handling this specimen as it was still alive when this picture was taken.

There was also a Lutjanus species in the catch as well. Any idea what the above fish are???

Major: Now what's this... stone, stone, stone, (looks down at his hand) and scissors. Now. Scissors cut everything, don't they?
Sergeant: Not stone, sir.
Major: They're very good scissors!!

Top fish is a tang or surgeonfish. I would have to find one of my marine reference books to find what species though.

Middle fish is a parrotfish. Not sure what species.

Bottom fish is a bream. Generally only used for food. Not exported as an aquarium fish so I have no idea what species.

Agreed on the first one (maybe Acanthurus mata?) - but to me the middle one looks like a wrasse, (Cheilinus sp.?) while the bottom one appears to be a Siganid.

I'm no expert, though!
