Ordering from amazon.co.uk or amazon.com
I don't have Flash on my iPhone 4 so I see the link for Amazon UK but not the USA link
I'm happy to help PC if I can and do shop Amazon esp. Kindle books lately but other departments as well. Will check on my antiquated computer and see if links show.

Hello All,
I am all for raising funds for this site. my only concern is
qte On a more positive note, I've seen quite a lot of activity in my report that shows me what people are buying end qte
Why do you get to see what we all buy ? Is this not against privacy and is this stated in the site when ordering ?
cheers jk

I don't, no and yes.
It is Amazon operating standard for what they call the associates programme. I think you may be putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5. I get to see what is bought, not who bought it. Again pretty standard practice for referral sites and driven much harder by many sites than the implementation of it here.
I don't see any privacy issue, clearly amazon and the tens of well meaning users of the link don't either. At the end of the day if you perceive some issue with it, don't use it.

Hi Jan,
No, sorry, we don't do any of the other Amazon geographic domains outside UK and US. Interested in your use of German Amazon versus UK or US, though, wouldn't it be cheaper to use the US one?

Re: Ordering from amazon.co.uk or amazon.com
i will be very honest, I do not know if the US one sells German DVDs or other products like eheim. . I usually order stuff and get it sent to an address in Germany and they send it to me as it is cheaper than buying in Australia ( most of the time ) . Cheers jk

No idea either about German DVDs, although you might find zooplus better for eheim stuff in that arrangement. Either way, probably boils down to current currency rates. Thanks.

Re: Ordering from amazon.co.uk or amazon.com
It's that week again!
Despite some of the nonsense in previous posts in this topic, it really helps Planet if anyone buying from Amazon uses the links below to access the site. Assuming you make a purchase in that same browser window, Planet will get an "associates" payment which costs you nothing and goes directly to our hosting costs (the main site running costs).
Here is the dot com link:
Shop Amazon.com - Black Friday Deals Week
and here is the dot co dot uk link:
Shop Amazon.co.uk - Black Friday Deals Week
Cheers,
Jools

Re: Ordering from amazon.co.uk or amazon.com
If I may give my 2 cents worth without Amazon stealing 99% of it - This site would be better funded by charging $1 for a lifetime membership with SOME ads. It is getting like eBay - You can donate a percentage to charity... eBay appear 'charitable' whilst charging [without matching] the cash-strapped buyer's donataion to the 'charity' - IF you want to help a worthy cause, give it to them directly - Give a homeless person a meal... Adopt an unwanted pet... Look after your parents & grandparents...

Re: Ordering from amazon.co.uk or amazon.com
I don't really understand your point. When someone buys from amazon, they don't pay more so that some of the money comes to Planet.
As I've said elsewhere I have no plans to make Planet pay for access. However happy to note a lot of people do donate towards the running costs.
Are you saying there is a problem with amazon and we should stop using it in this way?

Just made another small order
@Jools - does PC still get anything from Amazon? Some of the links appear to be missing now (book review page etc)

Yes, we still do, although it's usually about $30 a year.
