Has anybody else had a problem with their HOB filter overheating?

Did your water intake become clogged, or did the motor mechanism freeze up?

I have used HOB's for years. I have had leaks and clogs but never overheating.

If the impella stops spinning, for any reason, then the motor will get quite warm, but I have never had one overheat under normal operation.

I thought it was overheating... now I think that it has just been getting clogged. uhg, I feel a bit daft over that... oh well, it's fine now.

I've actually had one melt.

I was at college, and somehow it stopped and ran dry. Eventually it melted.
