We have a lot of these little monsters and I'm pretty sure it's a red tail catfish - tiger shovelnose hybrid. But i recently talked to some very knowledgeable fish people that had never heard of this hybrid; they told me to come to this site and ask here. That planted some doubt in my mind as to what it really is. I'm pretty sure they grow to enormous sizes and we are planning on building a pond soon to house them. I know we have way too many, which is why i will try to sell some of them off.
On these images, their stomachs are obviously pretty full as they don't have those huge bellies all the time.
If they are rtcxtsn, i find it very difficult to find information about them. And especially if i am going to sell some of them, i would like to inform a potential new owner as much as possible. So - do i treat them like i would treat a red tail catfish? What about water values? PH? Temperature? Any and all information is hugely appreciated! Thank you.
