CHECK YOUR SPELLING BEFORE USING CLOG TAGS
Please check your spelling when using the clog tags in your posting. It lessens the work I have to do correcting errant links in posts.
It would not kill you to preview the post before hitting the submit button.
Thank you, and have a very nice day.

Re: CHECK YOUR SPELLING BEFORE USING CLOG TAGS
I second this, strongly, I get an email everytime one of these things doesn't work and so if one of the mods doesn't fix it, I end up with it.
As Silurus says, PLEASE CHECK IT using the preview function before final posting.

Re: CHECK YOUR SPELLING BEFORE USING CLOG TAGS
Copy/pasting direct from the cat-elog page is the easiest way to avoid this if one is unsure of the spelling.

Re: CHECK YOUR SPELLING BEFORE USING CLOG TAGS
This doesn't work with sp/cf/aff species, but someone explained not too long ago (Mats, Jools?).racoll wrote:Copy/pasting direct from the cat-elog page is the easiest way to avoid this if one is unsure of the spelling.
What was the trick again?
PS: Don't worry, I'll write it down this time.

Copy and pasted from the Loricariidae
page in the Cat-eLog, and then adding the clog tags.
Ancistrini sp. (L127)
Copy and pasted from the species info page.
You need to remove "." and "space" from the first example.

If you preview before posting, and place the cursor on your clog name in the preview, you'll immediately know if there is an error.

Re: CHECK YOUR SPELLING BEFORE USING CLOG TAGS
If you are trying to type these rather than copy and paste them from the species page. Remember the following format:
genus+space+species identifier that will NEVER have a space in it, if it appears so, it will actually be an underscore
for example
As had been pointed out, use of preview will tell you if you've got it right 100% of the time.

Code: Select all
Ancistrus sp(l100)
Ageneiosus sp`llanos`
Ancistris sp`rio_ucayali`

Re: CHECK YOUR SPELLING BEFORE USING CLOG TAGS
Please excuse the ignorance of an old man here, but what is a Clog Tag? I had little luck Googling it.

Re: CHECK YOUR SPELLING BEFORE USING CLOG TAGS
It is what you use to make a normal catfish name, turn into a name that links to the catalog page.
You type [clog]Corydoras acrensis[/clog], using any species name that is in the database, with BBcode enabled. I had to disable it or else it would turn into a link.
You can copy+paste them from the bottom of any species's page.

Re: CHECK YOUR SPELLING BEFORE USING CLOG TAGS
It's specific to ARN so google might not help; its something I invented for Planet but expanded to include AR so that if you type (or use the BBcode buttons for the following:
it will show as (with a handy pic if you hover and link to that species profile)
is not in .
, or .
Jools
Code: Select all
[clog]Peckoltia compta[/clog]
[clog]L273[/clog] is not in [clog]bagridae[/clog].
[clog]Guppy[/clog], [clog]Goldfish[/clog] or [clog]Banjo Catfish[/clog].
is not in .

TY. Now I get it even if I don't use it myself.
