Re: 2015 Catfish Study Group Convention, UK
The booking forms and menu choices are now on line at http://www.catfishstudygroup.org/core/c ... n_2015.htm
Early indications are showing that we are heading for a record attendance, which means we will in all probability use up all of our room allocation.
We can house 300 delegates but the hotel only has accommodation for around 120, so please book tour place early and avoid disappointment. A £50 deposit secures your room and convention place.

Re: 2015 Catfish Study Group Convention, UK
Hi Jim and all the other Internationals,
Manchester Airport is the best indeed. The train station is near by and just a 5min walk from the Arrival area. For 12 pounds you get a two-ways-ticket to Wigan North-Western. The train needs 45min, WNW is the third or fourth station. From there it's again only a 5min walk to Pier Aquatics, which you simply have to visit! Last year the CSG offered something like a shuttle service starting there and brought the people to the Hotel the convention took place in, best to ask Ian if they do it again this year. So, all in all, it's really easy to get to Pier and the Convention.
Hope to see you there! (Will come back to your mail.)
cheers, Daniel

I'll be at Pier on the Friday afternoon, so I can also take (depending on size) four or six people from there to the convention hotel.

Re: 2015 Catfish Study Group Convention, UK
I think you're arriving into Manchester airport too late to make Pier while it is open (on Friday). That's given that you arrive on time at 16:45, given luggage/transit I think you'll miss the train just before 17:00 and so get on the one just before 18:00. It takes about 50 minutes on the train to get to Wigan Pier (Wallgate). So that puts you in Wigan at about 18:45?husky_jim wrote:@Julian: Until what time you will be at Pier?I am arriving at Manchester at 16:45.Do i have time to come directly there?
Airport to Wigan Pier
Wigan Pier to Macdonald Kilhey (Convention) hotel
I'm not sure yet what I will be doing on Saturday morning, but would be happy to give a lift into to Pier Aquatics then.
Cheers,

Is the event open to anyone, or just members of the CSG? I'm fairly local and would be interested to attend.

It's open to anyone and if you are local you don't even need to stay at the convention hotel although given the social nature of the event, I'd recommend that or a late taxi home...Mol_PMB wrote:Is the event open to anyone, or just members of the CSG? Re: 2015 Catfish Study Group Convention, UK
A quick update for those that are hovering over their decision to attend the CSG's 2015 convention, as of mid day today 5th December we have already taken up just over a third or our room allocation, and would advise any potential guests from outside the UK to book their place as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
On another point, for all those people coming in from outside the UK it is possible for me to arrange transport from and to Manchester airport, but will need your flight details well in advance so that I can plan a pick up/drop off schedule.
Anyone with any questions and or concerns feel free to contact me at conventionmanager@catfishstudgroup.org

Re: 2015 Catfish Study Group Convention, UK
With just over four weeks to go all our room allocations are now taken, but there are plenty of 1 or 2 day, day-tickets available.
We would have liked to have had a few of you US guys make the hop over the pond though. We will undoubtedly be rubbing it in after the event, with tails of the fantastic talks and convention activities as well as all those fantastic fish you missed seeing, or even having the chance to buy at Pier Aquatics.
