Breeding L-128

Post by kwalker »

hello all, i am starting a new breeding project on the L-128. i would like to know if anyone is currently working with them or if anyone has any suggestions on this species?

i currently have one 6 inch pair housed in a 125 gal tank. my water is fairly soft here. would anyone recommend going to a smaller tank and if so why?

i have bred many hypans in the past as well as many busynose but this is my try with any of the hemi,s. any and all suggestions would be welcome.

barbie, if you see this post this pair that i kept are much larger than the pair i sold at the catfish convention.

Hi Ken,

I need to get my friend out to vent the ones I have. I know I have 3 BIG males and I think I might have one 6" female and one 5" female. It all looks like fish privates to me. I need to work on that ;). I will keep an eye out for information on these guys. I bought them caves at the convention. Now I just have to get all the ancistrus moved onto their system and clear out enough space to really push them. I figured I will leave the two spare big males in another tank and give the biggest guy the two girls in a 72 gallon tank and see what they manage. I've never seen them look full of eggs, even when they were all so fat they had little ditches down their backs :)) .

really easy to sex when they are in spawning condition. huge males like 9-10" get long red odontodes all over them (but mainly in the typical spots). very cool contrast. Prob my fave pleco when in spawning conditions.
