I've caught a couple of them, and from what I recall they don't usually have spots.
I was exploring a stream today and discovered it was fed by a swamp. Went netting about and got this guy:
Its got these spots all over its body, but its not as strikingly patterned as this guy http://www.planetcatfish.com/common/spe ... es_id=3703

Yup, this is C. batrachus. And almost all of the SE Asian species have spots.

Can't pretend I'm not dissapointed, but at least I'll get a meal out of it.
I'll have to look more carefully next time I catch one on a hook. For all I know people have introduced African Clarias here.
