will neons eat my king tiger eggs?

Post by elliott »

i have a large tanke made for my two royal plecos and a lot 20+ king tingers that spawned over the years, thing is i would love to add color to the tank but had to remove my swordtails to my pond because they eat eggs and were reporducing too much.

is it same to add neons i'm looking for the smallest most color group of fish i can add to this 250 gallon tank. any recomendations would be nice, i also am looking to get this done cheap because i would like a large group of them.

thanks! :)

Neons will not eat eggs; I've had similarly sized characins and rasboras in with my breeders.

great news, now i just need to save up they want almost 3 dollars for 1 last i checked walmart and i want a pretty nice group because i have zero top siwimmers and the tank can get boring when my royals arent chilling. thanks for the quick response i'm actually going to make some calls now to see if i can find them for cheaper. :D do you think 20 would be too much, do they stay tiny or can i find a smaller version of the breed or something? i like small fish in big tanks when it comes to top swimmers, smaller the better.

How many you add is up to you and the balance between adding interest to the tank and increasing burden on the filter and your water changes.

However, whatever you do, you must quarantine any dither fish especially if you are buying at the cheap end of the market. If you get your neons for a buck a piece, but they then introduce something nasty into your pleco tank, then you may end up being seriously out of pocket...

2.45 from walmart, got 5 but they might have problems finding eachother in the tank until i get more, thanks again for the quick info :) hope they can deal with a little current, they seem to like it, beats where they were anyway. ;x just need to work on getting a lot more because 5 in a 250 they might have issues schooling id think

I'm a fan of little fish in a big tank too lol. In my 75G I have Threadfins rainbows, neon daisy rice fish, sparkling gouramis, and pseudomugil gertrudae as well multiplying habrosus corys. These might be a good mix for your tank as they never seem to bother my cory fry and do like a bit of current.

cool yea i always liked to give a lot of space to my fish, my beta was the first to use this 250 before i got into breeding plecos. lol. i put these in about an hour ago and only one has seen to make himself at home swimming around, hope the others are just hiding. but i'm worried because the tank if very full of hiding places for all the king tiger plecs so i think if i don't get more its possible these might not find eachother enough get stressed or die or something. or maybe i'm paranoid i have not added a fish to this tank in many many years lol how many tetras do you keep?

Currently none with my tank set ups ATM kept quite a few but found them to nippy, a few chunks out my twigs and rehomed them. The ones that didn't nip tended to eat eggs/fry. The few that didn't bother anything I found were Embers, Galaxy,Emerald, Kubotai, Brigittae and strangely enough Endler guppies.

these five are now in a pack, since u claim they may eat eggs i may not get a bunch more now... i wanted about 15-20 of them because the tank is boring with no top swimmers at times. :( bad news hope these are not eaters. i really enjoy watching them stick together and swim around...
