Sick hypancistrus! Please help identify
about a week ago I got a new hypan, within a few days my plecos were all twitching and darting around. A few have some white spots so I assumed this was ich, but only half have the spots and they all seem somewhat bloated. so im worried they might have a secondary infection since I havent heard of ich bloating them before. im treating for ich with api super ich clear half the recommended dose, as well as raising the temp to 84 and added one tablespoon of salt for every ten gallons. just want to make sure im treating for the right thing. Thanks.

If they are all twitching and darting around I'm assuming that are itchy from like you said ick.... This is the most common problem... Salt can help but slower ..as well as turn the heat up a little for about 2 weeks .. If your too late and there's spots everywhere I would recommend super ick cure due to you may not having enough time to cure naturally! also pending on your water quality I've heard of issues of ammonia rising can cause itching of fish gills! Good luck !

in addition to salt, keep the tank dark and add extra aeration.
(Also, set up a quarantine tank for future additions)
