Is this Sorubimichthys planiceps?

Post by Thursty »

Image

It looks like nothing more nor less than a tiger shovelnose head grafted on to the body of a lima shovelnose.

At first I thought this was the strangest looking tiger shovelnose I ever saw. It wasn't until about a half hour later that I thought of Sorubimichthys planiceps.

Did you go to Peru yourself, or are these reposted photos?

If so, consider putting them all in one thread in the "Travellers notebook" forum (people will give you IDs there too). Also, think about some higher resolution images. The ones you've posted look tiny on my monitor.

I took these pictures in Peru last summer. I hosted them on Flickr, I don't know why they are such low resolution here, they're actually very high resolution in their original form.

I sort of know what the IDs are, I just wanted a second opinion on these pictures that I posted; so I won't be reposting to the travelers forum.

Okay, but remember that PlanetCatfish is a community, not a free identification service (i.e. the more you put in, the more you will get out).
