it looks like a cat, if it is then you shhould find it in the cat e log under the Ictaluridae family.
if it aint in that family then you caught whatever catfish someone threw out.

i'll start looking to try and identify it for you.
I'M A 13 YEAR OLD AQUARIST AND DONT GET ANY ALLOWANCE ITS GETTING TO THE POINT WHERE MY FISH EAT SO MUCH THAT I HARDLY HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO BUY FISH FOOD ANYMORE!

Sorubimichthys planiceps, me thinks. Never heard of them being introduced in the US...

The Rustmeister is quite correct, it's a planiceps. Undoubtedly one that was bought as a cute 3" fish for some idiot's 80 gallon aquarium a couple of years previously.....

Wow, this is the first answer I have seen for this pic. Every other place I have seen it asked people start proposing that it is a photoshop of some sort.

I bet the guy who caught it was spooked when it barked at him! (Big Pims make a 'barking' sound when they're lifted out of the water)

Was the thing released? Eaten? What was the water like where it was caught?

Rusty-
The catfish was caught in a 40 acre lake in Fremont, Ca.
The lake is a former gravel pit so the water is usually fairly clear.
Don't know if it was released or not!
