Awesome fish. If you don't mind this going a little off topic, how did you catch it?

No problem at all, I collected these specimens by kick seining. A few largish Schizothorax were surprise bycatches along with a mix of loaches,Garra and Barilius. The Pseudecheneis were all collected from riffles. I will post a video of the habitat soon.
Thanks HH. Is there anyway to differentiate (externally) eddsi from crassicauda and serracula???Silurus wrote:Looks like eddsi, but I'm not 100% sure.

Re: Which Pseudecheneis???
serracula would have a much larger adipose fin, while crassicauda would have a much thicker caudal peduncle.

Re: Which Pseudecheneis???
Pseudecheneis sulcata did enter the trade recently, a few specimens might have entered the US if not for an extreme summer in north India.exasperatus2002 wrote:Love it! Wish they sold around here.

Thanks HH, one of the specimens collected didn't seem to have any markings but unfortunately, it fell back into the river. I will be visiting the place quite often now (80 kms).

Another specimen from the same river system but a different (and unconnected) location. How variable is pattern in Pseudeucheneis???

Apologies for the picture quality (camera phone), my creaky old camera finally gave in.

Re: Which Pseudecheneis???
From the Uttarkhand/Nepal border. Is this serracula HH???

Surprisingly, this specimen was collected from a slow moving river with ONLY silt for substrate.

Re: Which Pseudecheneis???
Do you think crassicauda is a more plausible option or is it just eddsi???
