Happy Day
Happy Day
Well I woke up this morning to some happenings in the tank. I looked and saw one of my male aenus scurrying about then I saw him hook up with a female and assume the t-position. Then I saw the eggs in her fins. She tried to stick them to a bottom of a plant, but that didn't work so now I think they are somewhere in the caves that I have in there.
So my question is..I have a little breeder thing that I could put in the aquarium to keep the eggs in the same main tank, or put them in their own little 5g tank?
Which would you recommend..
I'm going to keep an eye on everyone now that I finally grabbed the digital camera.

Well some of the fish started to eat the eggs. But I was able to save 3 off of the heater that they couldn't get to. So I put those three on a piece of cly pot, and into the 5g that I setup.
I fed the fish and did a partial water change and they started to spawn again. So I got 11 new eggs on a leaf that I cut off and put into the 5g.
I've already added some stuff to combat fungus...is there anything else I need to do?
if I get anymore eggs I'll probably just place them in the breeder that I have in my main tank.
Pics to come later

edit: added 13 more to the 5g thats probably all I'll be able to try and handle

Well they hatch alittle bit last night (1 did I think) and then they rest are going today. I've got 5-6 for sure and another 4-5 eggs to hatch. I lost maybe half of my 27 eggs to fungus. Not too bad for my first time.
I did manage to get a pic of one of them.
I'm all ready with bbs and crushed flakes for when they need to start eating soon.
Even though its not a big deal for the community it is for me, since its my first spawn

Berger,
Congrats!!! You are hooked now. If you are like me...cories will soon be taking over your fish room. If you are looking to try another species...I recommend pandas. They are just a little harder then aeneus...and are fun to spawn!
Don't be surprised if those aeneus start laying 100s of eggs as they get older. Take some advice from a fellow breeder...GET MORE TANKS...lol. You're gonna need them

Thanks Rich!
Ya I'm hooked I'm going home for christmas break today and I going to bring back a 10g tank and I have a 30g up here at school thats not in use. I plan on making them planted tanks as well as breeding tanks
My LFS usually has some different types of cories but nothing is ever consistant..and the last time they had pandas was months ago, and they didn't look well. But I do plan on getting what I can and trying to breed them..I'm sure they wouldn't mind buying them back from me.
I can see their little wiskers today, and their tail is taking shape..its so cool to watch them grow, and how early they start acting like the bigger fish.
