Problems with eheim 2227 wet/dry Canister filter

Post by Harley »

Hello

I just bought me a used eheim 2227 to replace my two other canister filters. Im super happy about the new eheim, it works like a charm and is absolutly the most quiet canister filter i have ever heard.

There is a small problem though =/
The intervall (english word ?) doesnt work ! The filter is suposed to empty it self and refill again in... but it doesnt. I have tried raising the filter higher, but it made no difference.

Does anyone know what i can do ?
Any ideas are welcome...

I depend on my fellow catfish "nerds" i these kind of emergency situations =)

You may actually need to lower it, and check that the sponge in the float switch compartment is pushed fully in.
I have found these filters to be somewhat temperamental with regard to the alternating fill/drain cycle.

Thanx for your answer, but i dont really understand what you mean by:
"and check that the sponge in the float switch compartment is pushed fully in. "

do you mean the styrofoam part or the small 1cm high sponge above the styrofoam ? and where is it soposed to be "pushed fully in" ?

The foam should sit right at the top of the side chamber, and the styrofoam float should be able to move freely up and down.

The other thing to check is the air intake. Ifit is blocked then the air cannot get in to dispalce the water. Sometimes the airtube has a blank in the end to allow continuous flow.

good lcuk

My wife made the mistake of buying me a 2 ft tank and it grew to 7ft.
