I'm 99.9% certain that any fish at pets art labelled as these will be hybrids & not the genuine thing

Re: True WC Synodontis Longirostris????
That is unfortunate. I have a hybrid but it was clearly labeled as such when I bought it.
How is Petsmart selling those as a purebred fish not constitute fraud? A huge chain like that and they can't identify a fish, or say "Whoa wait a minute how did we get these extremely rare fish?"
Again, I didn't see them so I can't say what they looked like.

Re: True WC Synodontis Longirostris????
OMG they have been selling these fish as a purebred for FIVE YEARS!?!?!
The tag on these definately said 26 inches though, because I looked and I was like whoa, these are those behemoths they were posting about on Planetcatfish.
And then like a dummy I come on here and post that Petsmart has them for sale.
Well that's crappy. I'm looking for a hybrid due to compatability issues with my Eupterus (all they have for sale around here is Eupterus, hybrids, and Rift Lake species) but that's a BIG question on how large this apparent hybrid gets. 7-8 inches I can do. 26 inches!?!?! My husband would divorce me
My gosh. I feel like writing Petsmart a really nasty email! THAT SUCKS!
And you guys are totally right about the hybrid issue. If it's clearly marked, like my fish "Hoover" (never seen anything eat like him), then yes of course I knew what I was getting. But if you are not terribly experienced with Synos (like me) and you had a tank that you could keep one of these rare beauties in and thought you got an amazing deal on one, well I'm sorry that is fraud!

Thanks Ben.amiidae wrote:Very nice looking specimens, Jippo.

My first specimen has grown from 18cm to 27cm in 18 months. Even in that size it looks quite small because it is very elongate and I think they will get more massive much later.
Larger specimen has grown less than 10cm in 10 months.
How is your specimen doing, Ben?

Doing great ! Not shy during feeding. Feed just abt anything and he hides inside his mobile home (aka free roaming PVC pipe ) most of the time till feeding.
