honeycomb or not
honeycomb or not
Wife found a lovely fish which we were told was a honeycomb driftwood catfish. Idea for us, nice size etc
But. When I asked question on another forum they said this honeycomb doesn't suck on glass.
Yes when we seen him in the shop he was sucking on the glass, wife reserved him as she wanted him and they caught him and placed in another tank he looked more like a pleco then the catfish named here.
Even the photos I've seen of a driftwood honeycomb look different to the one in the shop
The tag in the shop says honeycomb driftwood catfish but this one they caught was sucking on

Re: honeycomb or not
We need a picture of the fish to identify it.
Re: honeycomb or not
I will try and get a actual photo of the fish in due course

£18 a piece seems expensive for them too!

Re: honeycomb or not

Maybe the Centromochlus was hiding in a piece of wood, and you saw the wrong fish?dazzadub wrote:when we seen him in the shop he was sucking on the glass
Re: honeycomb or not
There was nothing else in there, as wife asked to reserve so he caught him.
No other catfish or plecs where in there.

Re: honeycomb or not
Racoll's theory sounds likely given the shy, nocturnal nature of these fish (except at feeding time, that is ).
Look here --> <-- for more info on the honeycomb catfish (sometimes known as the oil catfish).

Re: honeycomb or not
There's a price tag for a (aka Mango plec) next to the Honeycomb...could it have been that?

Re: honeycomb or not
Could it have been a Sewellia lineolata (reticulated hillstream loach) that was sucking on the glass?
