jaguar and Giant bumblebee cat

I have posted before regarding stocking with the two cats but am going to replan my stocking list so that I can accommodate these two species Liosomadoras oncinus and Pseudopimelodus bufonius. But would like some real world experiences and opinions on the two. Such as ease of care and feeding habits. Any info will be greatly appreciated. My son and I love these two species. I also plan to use subdued lighting to help with shyness which I don't mind I am aware that they aren't "free swimmers" can the co exist together and read conflicting accounts regarding jaguars needing to be kept alone and then that they need to be kept in a small school ? Also that they giant bumblebee doesn't not easily accept pellets

They can be kept together but the jag should be at least twice the size of the bumblebee

I've found both pretty easy to keep & unfussy when it comes to feeding

I second Richard.

I vaguely recall some disagreement on the jags: some say they get sick at high temp, others say no. I've kept mine around 75-78 F.

Wow is it ok to keep a single jag or do they need to be in a school ? And dod ypu have any issues feeding the bb pellets? Gonna check out that thread thanks so much

The jags do fine as an individual although I'd always get more if available as they are superb fish.

The bumblebee took pellets fine. Earthworm sticks, krill pellets, brine shrimp pellets - stuff more 'meaty' than a lot if others. They particularly liked live earthworms though

Its hard to find a better look cat than the jag. Thanks soo much for the info ...will be put to good use.

What size tank were the jags and gbb in ?

When they were together they moved between a 48x15x24, a 36x12x15 & a 72x18x24 always plenty of caves/hiding places in each - more places than the number of fish, but this helps to make them feel secure & if done 'intelligently' then the fish can still be viewed

Great then they will be fine in the 150. Looks like the gbb is hard to find though

Yes, as stated, they are very unfussy. All manner of foods are usually greedily gobbled up, including pelleted.

The tank in my thread was a grow-out 55 gal.

Both are nocturnal but BB would venture out 10-100 times more often, esp. if food is present.

Richard B I sent you a pm about a cat that I stumbled upon last night (harlequin Lancer). You can disregard if you would rather answer here but what can you tell me about it ? Where can I purchase one? Cannot find any info on the net except that it gets about 11inches.

In summation:

Harlequin Lancer - easy to keep one as they're very unfussy. Exceedingly territorial amongst themselves (& very close relatives). I have kept one with a Jag without problems but not mixed with GBB but should do fine

oh man I need help I don't know which way to go with the jaguar bumblebee, harlequin lancer, and bolt I know there is no way I can keep them in a 150 5x2x2something tank. But how many of the 4 would be possible...

I would say as long as they were all the same size everything but the Aguarunichthys torosus would be fine in a 5x2x2.
