L128 and l200 spawn

Post by Cristoffer Forssander »

Today I got spawns of both L200 (third time) and L128 (first time).

The parameters are interesting!
L128s spawned while i lowering the conductivity from around 190 to 40 uS/cm with a Temperature of 27-29.
The L200 spawned while I rise the conductivity back from around 40 uS/cm to around 180.
The Temperature is 29-30 degrees. In both cases Temperature has been risen with around 3 degrees witch seemes to be the more important issue.

pH are 7.1 in both cases.

I have no photos as I dont whant to disturb them. I will take photos whent things are safe! I just eggs will survive as I will let the males to their work.

Cheers

That is AMAZING - congratualtions! :YMAPPLAUSE: ^:)^

I have a Group of 8 L128 myself which I hope will spawn some day. Therefor I have a few questions for you - I hope you dont mind answering...

- I just have to get it right: Is your theory that rising the temperature is the factor that trickered the spawns?

- In my Group of L128 the biggest male (alfa male i guess) is a bit greenish compared to the rest of the group, which is more ink-black/blueish. Would you think the biggest male beeing a bit off color compared to the rest of the group would be a problem regarding a future spawn?

- Is all your L128 the same color?

- Is all your L128 from same import?

- And last, but actually most important to me: Would you post a few pics of how your breeding tanks look like - when it will not disturb the males ofcourse?

Thank you in advance!

Greetings - Anders

That's fantastic news! I have groups of each, but haven't conditioned them, as I think they are predominantly male and they will require more room. Are your females as visually obvious as in other species?

Hi!

No, these are really diffucult to sex and im not 100 %sure about all in the group.
Female have a less massive head than the male and odontodes are not as thick and long as in the males. Mature males also have odontodes on the back of their body- similar to peckoltias but not near as furry. Females dont have this.

I see no color differences among L128s and they are from different imports.

I will try to add photos later but there is no fancy set up. Caves, fine gravel, flat stones and some boog Wood.

Very clean water! I have 25% filtration of the total volyme water

The L128 male left the cave today... The eggs where gone.
The L200 male is still fanning.

Cant be luck every time but I hope that the second spawn will do better.
I was hoping more for the L128s cause it was my first time with them.

Hi

pH where decreasing in both cases. From around 6.9 to 6.4
Conductivity around 80 uS/cm
Temperature in l200 30 degrees and in l128 around 28 degrees.
In both cases temp increased from around 26-27 degrees.
