Frozen river shrimp - a favorite food for my Pseudacanthicus

Post by Chanin09 »

In Thailand, there is a native species of freshwater river shrimp which has been used as live food or frozen for feeding carnivorous fishes, especially my beloved Pseudacanthicus. They seem to like this stuff very much :d

Overhere we can obtain frozen river shrimp as a flat pack that can be easily broken up into daily portions. A frozen food portion should not be put directly into the tank, they should be first be thawed out, by using a plastic sieve and let the food thawed under the tap water.

Beyond the nutrient, I think the carotinoid from shrimp could enhance the red colour of the fish too, as one of my younger "Scarlet" seem to get better red. :-BD

if you want red just get astaxanthin powder and mix it with food (or feed it to live food and gut load it.) you should get best reds out of your fish that way.
