Nice to see something new!
How big are these likely to get in the hobby, given wild specimens hti something like ~50cm SL?
Are they bold, or like the smaller Paratropius spp. and quite skittish?

Re: new congo tank
the biggest one is about 20 cm's and they aren't shy at all, they are a perfect replacement for the tetra's.
they're constantly moving and like the given strong current.
and it's amazing how much they can eat!

Very nice to see some Schilbe species, you don't see them often, i'm a bit envy...
Be aware with Chrysichthys ornatus, they behave nicely at the beginning but still are a real predators. Mine has been eating already ~45pcs of Pareutropius buffei, ~10pcs of Brycinus longipinnis(10-12cm) and also 20cm long Polypterus delhezi. But it was my fault to add too little fishes to same tank with ornatus, anyway it's one of my favorite cats.

Re: new congo tank
Jippo, can you please tell me how fast it grew, what you've been feeding it (besides the tetra's/buffei ) and how big it is nowaday's.
fish i've got in this tank:
S.alberti 4
S.flavitaeniatus 7
N.macrostoma 2
Schilbe spp 9
D.sexfasciatus
they all are bigger than this new little monster which is about 10 cm's.
the nannocharax' had to leave on fore hand and a pair of S.casuaris and a single brycinus will not be moved to the upcomming new tank.
thanks in advance,
casper

Re: new congo tank
My ornatus likes all kind of carnivore pellets and shrimp pellets, bigger is better . It's favorite food is giant shrimps and mussel meat. Growth rate is not fast, I've had this species now about four years and it's around 25cm(TL), my other specimen died some time ago but it was not bigger either. But it's still growing, little by little.
I have several Steatocranus irvinei at same tank but ornatus is not clever enough to catch them, they have their own territories at rocky area of tank.

A few more crappy pics and Jippo...
All pics were taken just to show the other (and bigger) one, as you can see the little ones only contain stripes. Please ID the bigger one.
