Hara jerdoni?

Post by Melander »

Hi,

These came in as Fryingpan Catfish from South America.

They however look like Hara jerdoni to me, what do you think?

Thanks for the reply!

Interesting, this is why Planetcatfish is so good.

I looked at the photos of H. minuscula before posting but thought that these looked "flatter". I however trust yourself far more than myself comparing photos on the internet, how do you tell the two apart?

Three of the individuals are slim and more grey while three are yellowish brown, having read the COTM on H. jerdoni here on Planetcatfish I thought this was due to sex and or environmental reasons.

Both species have long pectoral spines, but those on H. jerdoni are longer, typically reaching beyond the base of the pelvic fin when folded back against the body whereas those on H. minuscula would not.
