Unusual Chaetostoma ID?

Post by N0body Of The Goat »

I've been meaning to ask for an ID for this catfish for some time and literally just found a semi-decent photo from last year! MartinS passed this fish over to me just over 18 months ago, but its fairly uniform small round black spots have baffled me for an ID, they are far smaller and rounder than the spots on my two presumed C. aff. milesi. It has not grown that much in the time I've had it, maybe 0.5-1cm, to now be ~5.5-6cm SL.

The closest match to my novice eye is L402, but that seems very unlikely. I've just found image7 under aff. milesi has smaller spots compared to the other photos too, http://www.planetcatfish.com/common/ima ... ge_id=1023

your fish is missing the white tips on the caudal so it is not L402.

I have owned one exactly like this and to me this is C. aff. milesi
