Corydoras concolor, photos
I just wanted to share some photographs of these. I am very happy with the photos but ever more so with the fish which seems to be an undervalued species that could do with some promotion.
I got these lads about 4-5 months ago and in that time they have doubled in size and really show of their reddish fins. They are still young though and will grow to quite big chunky monkeys I hope. Their dorsal fins have started to grow into their trademark hi-fins too.

Re: Corydoras concolor, photos
Nice photos and they make great additions to all tanks with suitable tank mates. Think they lack the variety to get people interested easily in stores.

Great pictures! Thanks for sharing. I have a group of these and they truly are very underrated. A mature male is stunning with the high dorsal.

Re: Corydoras concolor, photos
Thanks for the comments! I will try to update this thread with some new photos when they have grown a bit more.
@cinnamonsticks: You have a great way of expressing yourself, certainly put a smile on my face!
@steveh28: I can hardly wait for these lads to reach maturity for that reason!

Re: Corydoras concolor, photos
I've had my eye on these for a while, and may be able to acquire some in a couple of weeks. Your pictures just sealed the deal. Lovely fish.

Re: Corydoras concolor, photos
Fantastic picture Melander! My largest male is similar looking, maybe not such a nice dorsal though. Someone told me the females are much bigger than the males, do you find this to be the case? My dominant male is the largest fish out of the 6 I have, and I fear that I may have all males. They seem to get "fat" in the lower belly region, not on the sides of the fish as I've experienced with other cory sp. females. Not quite sure, but I may need to expand the group a bit if I want to ever see any eggs.

Re: Corydoras concolor, photos
@Coryfan: Thank you very much, I do like the g one myself!
Like said the females are slightly rounder, the dorsal fin seems to be an other indicator. Even though both sexes have
developed a "hi-fin" the males fins are longer.
It is interesting how your dominant male is the largest too, perhaps their social structure differ somewhat compared to some other Corydoras which could explain the high dorsal?
I do think these fish have a bit more growing to do and there is a possibility that the females will outgrow the males in time. I would not be surprised if you have females among yours and that just need a bit more time as i still have a couple of individuals in my group that have not shown any clear indications of sex yet.
Andreas
@rmc: Cheers, these are still on the young side of adulthood but this males is definently larger(longer at least) than the females. The females have however slightly rounder bellies like you said but nothing near the difference seen in some other species. They are all very bulky compared to other species which are easier to sex.rmc wrote:Fantastic picture Melander! My largest male is similar looking, maybe not such a nice dorsal though.
