Ancistrus and apples

Post by Templeflower »

Hi all,

A quick question. It's apple season, and my first batch of apple crisp left me with a freezer bag full of apple skins and cores, fresh from the orchard. Can I safely feed any of this to my ancistrus? The apple seeds went into the trash. I'd love to be able to use the remnants in the tank, if it's safe, and they will eat it.

the real question is will the apple cores sink?
but yea they should be fine eating them. apples do mess up the water a bit though. and its always possible that your fish will not want to eat apples, but i'd say give it a shot :)

I don't know about that. A lot of fruit growers use astonishing amounts of insecticides. Don't think I'd want to but anything but organic apple peels in the tank
