Which Auchenipterids are being kept by PC members?

My single acsi shows up when I feed. The oto's hardly ever.

I was indeed able to spot both larger A. cf. atronasus females yesterday evening, which is good. Spotting otorongo's will be a different matter

They've been bred in the US by @Regina. I'm just checking you've read the CotM on them covering breeding (just in case you missed it).

I'm moving all my fish over to their new tank sometime over the next week so am hoping to see and photograph all 8 of mine! Along with the other woodcats I haven't seen since adding, such as Tatia dunni!

Due to an ever decreasing interest in fishes, I'm considering a complete hobby stop. I'm currently down to just one tank and it wouldn't surprise me if that one goes as well.
One thing that could make me change my mind is to become a real fishkeeper again instead of a "virtual" one. The past few years I have spent more time at the computer than watching my fishes, which is of course not good. Therefore I have to quit several fora I frequented until now. This has not been an easy decision btw.
I'd like to thank (nearly) everyone on PC for their company, interest and helpfulness.
So it's goodbye for now - and who knows, maybe we'll meet again one day.

There are a few moments in an aquarist's life that makes keeping fish special. Whether it is finding a new species of fish or being the first person to have a species of fish spawn, it is truly rewarding. So here it is, the first report of Jaguar Catfish, Liosomadorus oncinus, being spawned in captivity! It also confirms, if there was any doubt, that L. oncinus is an Auchenipteridae as the eggs resemble Tatia eggs!

I have an idea of what triggered the spawning. Details to come in an article if I am successful. Hopefully this isn't an isolated event as I would love for these to regularly spawn like my other woodcats.

Extremely sorry to see you go, I hope you find the passion again and return soon so the community can continue to benefit from your knowledge. I definitely know where your coming from, you can get a little burnt out answering questions and talking about the hobby instead of actually focusing on it so new direction or project for your fish tanks take a back seat and the interest begins to dwindle. I just recently got my Mojo back when I started focusing on Madagascar cichlids and the possibility of breeding the Trachy's and maybe some other Auchenipterids. Before then I was just kind of going through the motions and the fishkeeping was more a responsibility then anything. Hope you get your Mojo back soon.

Very awesome! Nice bit of fishkeeping there, very cool. Can I ask where was the spawning site? Was it underneath driftwood or some other shared hide or did occur in a location they don't usually claim? Do they typically share hides or usually stake out their own and did it change during breeding?

To my regret I found out just recently that one of the most important persons wrt my auchenipterid hobby died last year. I think it is appropriate to share this here with anyone interested.
Dr. Gerlof F. Mees, thanks for all your support and enthousiasm. Rest in peace.

The following text about Dr. Mees is from Wikipedia:

"Dr Gerlof Fokko Mees (16 June 1926 - 31 March 2013) was a Dutch ichthyologist, ornithologist and museum curator. During 1946 to 1949 he took part as a conscript in the military actions to reestablish rule in the Dutch East Indies. During that time he became interested in the avian family Zosteropidae, comprising the white-eyes.

Mees was born at Velsen in the Netherlands. He attended the University of Leiden where he studied biology, obtaining his doctorate in 1956. He was an assistant at the department birds of the Rijksmuseum van Natuurlijke Historie in Leiden from May 1955 to June 1957. Thereafter he became Curator of Vertebrates at the Western Australian Museum from 1958 to 1963. He subsequently went back to the Netherlands to become Curator of Birds at the Rijksmuseum in Leiden until his retirement, for which he returned to Western Australia in 1991, and lived in Perth and Northcliffe.He died at Busselton, Western Australia.

He gave the first description of the unusual fish species, the Salamander fish of Western Australia.
Mees's Nightjar, the proposed name for new species Caprimulgus meesi, is named for this researcher".

Unique. Yesterday evening I noticed 4 Otorongo's feeding at the same time. It was about time, because they are (too) skinny and have not grown a bit.....

Just a short update for those interested:

Got rid of Channallabes sp., Trachydoras nattereri & Hemidoras stenopeltis recently as the tank bottom was simply too crowded and especially the Channalabes ate like it was their last meal.
By doing so, there will hopefully be some food left for the Otorongo Spinipterus, which I still have at least four - and still in a rather skinny state.
The other auchenipterids are doing fine, even the Ageneiosus sp 3, which just refuses to die.

I'm indeed getting some mojo back, due to Sternarchorhynchus oxyrhynchus, the Elephantnose knife fish.
Unfortunately I just bought one, but I will be looking out for more. I guess that should work in my tank (not entirely sure though). A very visible and curious species.
