ID catfish from Congo?
ID catfish from Congo?
Can someone help me identify this catfish? Length is about 30 cm. Here are some pictures of it.

It's a Chrysichtys species. Maybe .

It is at least 10 years old and has not grown larger than the 30 cm.

Thanks. It is instructive. Obviously it is difficult to know the exact species. Should there be any benefit from the more precise identification if I could find out where it was caught in the Congo?

AFAIK, they are notoriously hard to ID. I had two 1' ones (scattered throughout the photos): http://www.planetcatfish.com/forum/view ... pportunity
One was just killed by one of my jaus: http://www.planetcatfish.com/forum/view ... =8&t=38993
The other one is ok. Similarly to yours, they appear to not want to grow beyond 1' even in a 1500 gal pond. I still don't know what species they are.
