Which kind of Otocinclus?

Post by Javier »

Hi friends,

I´ve a little doubt that maybe you can help solving it. I´ve bought like 20 otos in the same shop, but there are like 3-4 that are quite different. Maybe with these photos you will undertand me better.

The "big" one

The "big" one seems to be Otocinclus affinis isn´t it? The "tiny" one... I´ve no idea.

Thanks for your interest :).

Hi,

Otocinclus species are rather difficult to ID, better pics might help.

O. affinis is rather unlikely. Although you can find this name frequently in the trade it is actually nearly always something different.
Have a look at O. vestitus, but far from being sure...

Cheers,

Pics are made with my cell phone, it´s hard to find them close to the front so, I think are almost the best that I can make :(
