Post by Mrtoofay »

Hi guys,

Got these guys in with other fish. Vendor is not sure about what it is, just know that they are from Xingu. Please help with ID, and if they are all the same type. Posted this in other forum, but haven't got any feedback. Thanks in advance!!!

It seems like there are atleast two species in those pictures. One will be a lasiancistrus sp, the other a hypancistrus sp (this one I am not sure on,.. )

First 3 pics - Leporacanthicus without a doubt, based on its mouth and head shape. More like an L007. Beautiful! Check the others if they have similar mouths as this one. One could be a Hypan however.

Thanks guys! They came in with 9 other 9"+ Plecos. Was tired after handling and taking pictures of all of them by the time I got to these guys. I'll try to get a closer short of each one of them when I get a chance.

Isn't the guy with the shorter nose a Scobinancistrus?

Possibly, could be a young Scobi Pario. But hard to confirm with those photos. A mouth shot of each specimen will definitely confirm.
The rest are all definitely Leporacanthicus.

All are Lepora L007s except for Fish 3, a Scobi Pario.

This is the L7 and L253. Once I bought these fish together. Apparently, there are next to each other and are sold unsorted. My fish looked after buying it this way:
