Dead cories in the floating plants
I have a pretty full expanse of floating water lettuce in my tank. The other day, I found to cories pointing nose-up in their roots. One swam away when I disturbed the plant, the other was dead. Were they trying to reach the surface for air? Is that why that one died? I had another cory die the a week or so before, I'm not sure if it was from the same reason. Thanks!
I'm forever changing water.
Re: Dead cories in the floating plants
Cories can get hung up and stuck in the roots. They suffocate when they cannot dislodge themselves out.

Re: Dead cories in the floating plants
Sorry to hear. Corys need be able to reach the surface to take a breath of air, having that way of getting air / oxigin besides through gills. Corys can "drown" if that's not possible. Some species has this need more than others, but always have a clean part of the surface they can take a breath. Aad
