L204 feeding
Dont worry I'm not gonna say that its not eating or having problems eating.
Haha..
My problem is just the opposite.
So, 4 days ago I bought a wildcaught L204 at ACA convention. It was a very healthy specimen. I brought it home and here are the tank's parameters-
Tank- 29G
pH- 6.8
TDS-160-170
Kh- 4
Gh-5
Temp- 27 deg C (80 F)
Decoration- A lot of manzanita wood and a few caves with almond leaves.
Tank mates- 4 Wildcaught Altum angels + 7 Wild caught bleeding heart tetras + 3 Wild caught Hypoptopoma Gulare.
So..
The problem is that I feed frozen bloodworms to my bleeding heart tetras and Altums. Hypoptopoma gulare sometimes come to eat bloodworms but mainly they feed on hikari micro pallets. But whenever I feed bloodworms, L204 will come and gobble down 2-3 worms. And this happens 2-3 times a day. I know they shouldn't eat proteinous food. But what if they eat ?
Will it affect their health ?
Sometimes when I give him algae wafers, he chews it for 5 minutes and then leave it. But it constantly eats wood.
What should I feed him ? I read they like fruits. What kinda fruit ? Apple ?
How if I buy Repashy green solient ? Will that work ?
And here's my L204
Aint it gorgeous!!

Re: L204 feeding
I think occasional bloodworms should be ok.
In addition to more driftwood/bogwood, it will heartily eat zuchinni. (I've had mine for 4 years; and the person before me caught them in Peru, and had them for at least 1 year. They could be 7-10 years already.)

Great photos!
I don't believe it is a problem so long as fibrous foods are available at the same time, and it sounds like you have this covered with all that wood. I think the problems occur when they're fed protein rich foods day-in day-out, but never veg or wood.sumer wrote:I know they shouldn't eat proteinous food. But what if they eat ?

I would avoid fruits, as I found they go nasty very quickly in the tank due to the high sugar content. When I kept this fish, I found they did well on parboiled sweet potato, and canned fava beans. Both of these I had made up into small portions in the freezer.sumer wrote:What should I feed him ? I read they like fruits. What kinda fruit ? Apple ?

Hi Summer!
In addition to the Soilent Green, I would suggest you play around with my "Morning Wood" Formula. I actually used L204's as some of my test subjects and they have been eating a rotation of it and "Soilent Green" for about a year and a half now and have thrived quite well. It uses wood cellulose along with algae and plant only sources of proteins. I formulated it with twice the amount of algae based gel forming ingredients so it mixes up very firm and lasts a long time in the tank without breaking down.
Cheers, Allen

Did "Allen Repashy" reply to "my" thread ?
OMG. Thank you so much! Haha... You're a genius. I read about how you formulated special beg burger for roaches since they need very lil protein.
You know what my problem is! Buying Repashy stuff. All the reptile supplements are available everywhere but when I want to buy fishy stuff, its not available.. And even Rachel is in Canada right now.
Where to buy all of this stuff ?
I really want to try a lot of things.
Thanks racoll and Linus_Cello. I really appreciate your help
Sumer.

Re: L204 feeding
I just recently sold mine off but I fed mine a slice of cucumber every day for the last 5 years.
They also got shrimp pellets, Repashy Shrimp Souffle, and algae wafers too.

Re: L204 feeding
Hi Sumer,
We do offer our products on our website, but I would prefer you buy it from one of our dealers who supports Planet Catfish such as Stephan at Swiss Tripicals, Rachel at Invertebrates by Msjinkzd, Frank at Frank's Aquarium, or Barbie at Aquarium Solutions (sorry if I left any other dealers out, these just came off the top of my head.
The Morning Wood is a new product and I am not sure who has it in stock yet but if you tell them I said so, I will drop ship it direct for them if they don't have it. I will be officially releasing the Morning Wood, RedRum (a super high carotenoid formula), and four new Saltwater formulas in the next few weeks.
Cheers, Allen
PS Mods... I hope I am not breaking any rules by answering questions about my products on here. Sorry in advance if that's the case. Just delete and let me know......
