Pleco with Bloat?

Post by cbarb13 »

I haven't had luck with bloat in one other fish and unfortunately died a very tragic death. I have no clue what to do for this guy. I usually gave him a half or full wafer every 30 hours, i don't know if that's bad or not. I just got my driftwood ready today, would that be one of the problems too?

He just started pooping clear today and his stomach is a little lethargic.

He just looks chubby to me; probably actually a good thing. If he's died since you posted, I'm obviously wrong; don't know about poop color, but my Ancistrus' varies; looks like a Panaque, so should love wood.

hard to tell from the pics , but if u think it is bloat, stop feeding the wafers and begin feeding de-shelled peas. It helps "clean" them out . I feed my L's peas a few times a month . Frozen, nuke in water for 1 minute, cool ,pinch outter clear shell off ,then drop in the tank near him. They sink. Good idea to do this for a few days, see what happens. I would give more raw veggies than protien wafers if you are concerned with bloat in future. HTH
