Re: New Corydora Cruzeiro
There's some loretoensis over it, but still a bit different. The dorsal marking looks too large. Some loretoensis can have black first fin rays, but not this much. not that I've seen anyway.
Best regards,

Re: New Corydora Cruzeiro
It Might be C. cruziensis, but I would need to have an idea where it was collected and what the standard length is.

Re: New Corydora Cruzeiro
Hello Saul,
how do you KNOW that the indicated collection point is wrong ?
Have you caught some by yourself ?
They are from Brazil (although most probably yours were imported from Peru/Iquitos) and according to the catchers they do come from Rio Cruzeiro as stated at www.l-welse.com.
It is certainly not C. cruziensis, I would say that they are close to C. armatus but definitely something "new".
The largest specimen that I have seen in Iquitos had a length of about 5 cm (SL) and from the looks those seemed to be rather old ones.
Cheers,

Re: New Corydora Cruzeiro
The exact collection point is Rio Jurua, approx 4 hours up from Cruzeiro do Sul.how do you KNOW that the indicated collection point is wrong ? NOT correct is was part of the truth.
I wish, I could go catching fish but with the business and the second job is impossible to do so. However I work fish fishermen and biologist that help me a lot collecting fish and making sure we have the correct information\documentation for my customers.Have you caught some by yourself ?

I agree with you that we maybe dealing with something new here. I am trying to get some more information for Ian so he can document\decide if is in fact a new specie.
I should be in a position to measure the largest in the group, thanks so much for your participation in my thread and let me know if I can be of any assistance to you.The largest specimen that I have seen in Iquitos had a length of about 5 cm (SL) and from the looks those seemed to be rather old ones.

Re: New Corydora Cruzeiro
Hi Saul,
thanks for the information, I have updated this at www.l-welse.com.
The fishermen in Iquitos that came in with those beauties said to me "Rio Cruzeiro" but as these corys were not really cheap you can as often not rely too much on this kind of information.

Re: New Corydora Cruzeiro
My Pleasure and thanks for keeping updated one of my very favorite sites such as http://www.l-Welse.comthanks for the information, I have updated this at http://www.l-welse.com.
Fishermen always come up with different stories to Iquitos - Leticia, specially when they think to have something new to offer. They never want to tell you the exact collection point, but they will eventually or I won't buy from them anymore and as you said they are not very cheap either and they are still holding a very high value in the Asian market and very rarely seen in USA, UK and other countries or at least I have not seen many around. The fishermen in Iquitos that came in with those beauties said to me "Rio Cruzeiro" but as these corys were not really cheap you can as often not rely too much on this kind of information.
I will post some more pictures soon. They look cool in groups
