What Loach is This?

Post by corielover »

Hi,
I didn't post this in what is my catfish, because it isn't a catfish; if this is incorrect, feel free to rectify my mistake.
I bought this loach a couple months ago, and it was billed as a Burmese loach, but I can't find any information about Burmese loaches, so I wanted to get a second opinion. Here are some pics; he is about 5 or 6 cm in length. Sorry about the picture quality.

Either very young Botia histrionica or B. kubotai.

I agree on b. kubotai. They are awesome fish. Get as many as you can!

They are fun, active fish. If you are using fake decorations, make sure to seal any openings they can get stuck in. I found a carcass of one in a decoration a few months after all mine died in a broken heater accident.

Mine seems to enjoy sleeping with its head and half of its body wedged into a cave in the bottom of my bogwood. The first time I saw him, I thought he had gotten stuck, but he wriggled out when I turned on the lights.
