Any local fish store should be able to order them for you.

Thanks for the reply nvcichlids. Unfortunately, no dice with any of the better LFS. Most said they come in as contaminants. Bought my 2 out of a mixed river loach tank. Trying to find any leads I can. People say they're easy breeders, yet none around for sale! Thanks again.

Really? Considering that they [applies to all species of Parotocinclus] are not allowed to export from Brazil (that is, they are not on the "whitelist" of species allowed for export), and as far as I know, they are not commercially.

I thought if it was a described species it was white listed (atleast I thought I read that at one point, but definately could be wrong)? LDA 25 being listed as Paratocinclus jumbo (is that really the scientific name?).

I have seen them locally here, but never have shipped fish before. I also have some 1.25" that are F1's, but that doesn't help with your Jumbos.

They are available commercially but it appears to be seasonal. Segrest farms has them on their list for months at a time but they aren't on the list this week and I can't recall the last time I have seen them. Just perusing through old emails I don't see them listed anytime between 1/31/13 and now.

When they are available they are regular items for months at a time. Of course these could be Florida or Asian farm raised fish and may not be wild caught from Brazil. If they are being found as contaminants in shipments of loaches this would make me think they are Asian farm raised fish since there are no loaches in South America.

Being seasonal points at wild fish. Captive bred fish tends to be available all year around. It is of course possible that they are being exported, just not under the correct name. It wouldn't be the first time that happens...

Or they are being mixed up at the wholesaler/importer etc.

Mats. It is possible that we have a bit of both going on here.

Wild caught fish that are being exported on a seasonal basis and farm raised fish that were mixed in with loaches in Jalmay's case.

No way to really tell unless you know who the wholesaler is getting them from.
