Ancistrus macrophthalmus

Post by markfamily »

My local store just had some of these in this week and was hoping someone had a bit more info on them as there does not seem to be a lot of information out there on them.
Thank you for any help

Not a species that I've ever seen, and there are only six keepers in the Cat-eLog - compared to just under 600 for the common Ancistrus.

I wouldn't have thought that they are difficult to keep or much different from other Ancistrus species in behaviour or keeping.

I do agree that they look quite like L255. And from what I can tell, both from our pictures of A. macrophthalmus and the pictures in Ingo Seidel's "L-catfishes", they don't match that one.

But still a nice fish and not exactly a common ancistrus species.
