Young L134 ok in 10 Gal tetra tank for few months?
Hello,
I have a chance to grab 3 or 5 young L134 in my area. They are 3cm to 3.5cm in size but I don't have my large tank yet (will be getting it Jul for possible future breeding)
Would 5 (or at least 3) of them be ok in 10 gal tank I have set up already (there is 6 neon tetras, 3 rummynose tetras and clown pleco about 5cm I can give up the clown if needed or is a problem) for about 3-4 months. Or that's a "no" and I should try to get them once I'm set up with large tank.
Thank you.

As long as there are plenty of hiding places all over the tank and you keep up the water changes that should be fine for a few months.

I would tend to disagree. Would they stay alive in there? Possibly, even most likely... However it's not healthy for them. You could live in a closet for a few weeks too if you HAD to, but it might not be the best thing for your health.
These fish need a decent amount of current, very good filtration, high temp, plenty of wood, and lots of hiding spots. Your 10G is already full, in my personal opinion I would get yourself a larger tank first. I definitely share your feelings on wanting them badly, I have been waiting for months myself. Now my 60G is fully cycled, stocked with wood and ready to receive my 12 pieces that I'm getting in the mail. Just out of curiosity where are you getting them from and what are their prices? Wild? F1?

Thanks to giving me something to think about. I played it safe and past on them this time. This tank is pretty tight and I still have problems ens with ick coming and going.
