Hi, can you help sort out DBam's L-numbers?
Hi Planet Catfish, I have used PC for years and have enjoyed reading the forum. My fiance and I love Loricarids and while she is finishing practicums, I have inherited all her fish. I have a good idea that a couple of her fish are not what she or the seller thought they were, especially after reading a lot of the identification threads. In particular, her "wild L66 female", I'm almost sure, is not L66.
She also has this little gal, which I am not experienced enough to properly identify. She thought it was L199 but I'm sure it's not:
Of her L46's, I have a feeling that one may be a very chubby male or perhaps even a female (I hope):
Any help on the identification or sexing would be greatly appreciated!

Can you take a side head shot of the "L199"? To me, it looks like its L52.

It's not "flat enough" to be L52. They look like a "normal pleco been hit by a frying pan" - about half as "thick".Linus_Cello wrote:Can you take a side head shot of the "L199"? To me, it looks like its L52.

The "L199" is looks a lot like a to me, not sure which one but either a Tocantins or Colombian species.

You may be right. What would be the determining traits differentiating between L401 and 318?First fish looks like Hypancistrus sp(l401).
I will look into any possible Peckoltias, thank you!The "L199" is looks a lot like a Peckoltia to me, not sure which one but either a Tocantins or Colombian species.
Anyone confident in sexing the L46? Thanks for the help so far!

Any ideas on the L46 sexing?
Re: Hi, can you help sort out DBam's L-numbers?
I was actually looking to buy one of these, I didn't realize there were such similarities between them! I guess when you're not a pro you just have to trust that you are buying what you think you are. Maybe I'll do some research beforehand next time.
So what does it mean when you dream about being pregnant, I'd like to know this dream.

Re: Hi, can you help sort out DBam's L-numbers?
If the shots of the zebra are two different fish, one from above, another at the door of the cave, then they are a pair, but if it's all the same fish, I'm a little stumped. The above shots look female. The cave shots show an awful lot of odontodal growth for a girl.
