L-200

Post by nevi »

Hi :)

Do anyone have some information about the difference between Hemiancistrus subviridis and Baryancistrus demantoides? Dont think on the looks, but do think of the market, value\price. Is one type is more rare or more attractive fish than the other catfish? Etc......

Attractiveness is up to the opinion, but B. demantoides has a higher "shark-fin" appearance to its dorsal fin. B. demantoides is more uncommon than H. subviridis and commands a slightly higher price.

In my opinion the is a harder species to find as I have Very rarely seen them for sale. I have seen the on aquabid on a fairly regular basis. I have also heard tell that is a little hardier species although I don't know that to be fact. Hope this helps.

I agree with all the points that suckermouth makes, at least here in the UK

think most on aquabid are incorrecly labeled. Most of the seller's don't know what they have. I have contacted most of them. ALso all the stores by me that have L200 have the hemiancistrus

Cool! Thanks for the info! I did not know that but, that will be helpful in the near future as I was planning a tank with L200 / green phantoms also.
