Post by Are06n »

Hi guys, I was given these as a gift, I was told that they were common bristlenose catfish but they don't look anything like a common BN. Hope the photos help.

Thanks silurus, if I had my guess I'd say it closely resembles Portel Angelicus Pleco L005

The picture clearly shows small bristles around the periphery of the nose indicating an ancistrus species. It cannot be L005 as this is a hypancistrus which don't have bristles. Check the species Silurus indicates
Lou: Every young man's fantasy is to have a three-way.
Jacob: Yeah not with another fu**!ng guy!
Lou: It's still a three-way!

I would rather say this is since A. punctatus does not have the orange tinge to the spots on the tips of the pectoral fins.

Thanks Tina, I found a bit if information about this fish. As they were originally imported into Australia illegally they aren't recognized as ancistrus sp rio's although they are most likely to be that species. They are being sold here as orange spot bristlenoses.
