Synodontis soloni

I've some questions about the Synodontis soloni.

Are they a territorial Synodontis specie ?
Do they need some food froom a "Green matter" like spirulina a/o green algae ?

They're not as territorial as some species but it will somewhat depend on how many in what size footprint tank. "green" foods are not vital at all. A good mix diet is fine (flake, pellets, frozen foods, chopped earthworms etc). They will eat spirulina tabs if offered

Richard, floor size is 100cmx50cm.
Will 4 or 5 specimens fit in this (without any other catfish and other bottom lived fish offcourse) ?

I had one in with about 20 other kinds of synos alone as well as other fish. He never squabbled with anyone else.

Phyllonemus, you have good taste in fish...

4 to 6 even would be great in this tank, I had 9 in a similar size which seemed too tight, now they are in a 125 gal with some brichardi and others.

The smaller more colorful males sometimes will be a little pushy with a few squabbles but nothing nasty, the bigger females will sometimes get picked on from other synos I think because of their size.

They do like stones and hiding places but if they are comfortable they (mine at least) like to sometimes hang off of wood often perpendicular like they are trying to imitate a branch so it seems.
Not really a good picture of what I am wanting to show but you will see what I mean, often they will hang straight down with just their mouths touching...these ones started to move when I tried taking a picture.

They are available at my LFS.
I'm waiting for Synodontis robertsi wildcaughts. If the robertsi won't come in, I want to choose for these guys.

Do they also cleaning the food left overs from the sand ?

When the robertsi aren't coming in, I have the plan to combine the soloni with Sicydium sp.

I don't know sicydium but some of them get pretty big I see from the net.

Robertsi can be quite delicate & would benefit from increased numbers. They also don't require the water movement that soloni enjoy.

Robertsi are seldom seen & a beautiful fish. I would try to get these if there is a choice.

I would not hesitate one bit....right up there on my list.

Of robertsi I would get as large a group as I could and money would allow,at least six.

I have been trying to get robertsi for a long time. They appear on lists but never show up. I peaceful Syno at a manageable size. Well worth keeping.

Sicydium sp. are small fishes from the Gobiidae family from West Africa.
These fishes also live in waters with strong current, so will combine perfect with soloni, if robertsi won't arrive.
