L052 w/ One Eye
Was at the Lfs today and I spotted a pleco in with a crab. The poor guy (or gal) only has one eye. It looks like it was literally plucked right out of the socket. He's now in my qt tank and I got a better look at the socket. It is mostly white but I can still see some red flesh down in there. What are his chances of dying from this? Is there anything I can do to help him heal? I only paid $3 for him do to his injury but I want him to live. Suggestions?

I would say that he will more than likely survive. When I had my Mbuna I had one lose an eye and it didn't seem to really affect him at all.

Re: L052 w/ One Eye
It'll be fine without one eye as long as it doesn't get infected. But I'm just going to point out that it's not an L052, it looks to be a , or at least it's definitely a Hypancistrus.

Did you add anything to the tank to prevent infection and promote healing? Any suggestions?

Re: L052 w/ One Eye
Ok. The Lfs, which is pretty good most of the time said it was a butterfly pleco but nothing was listed on the tank and he didn't look it up to confirm. They carry mangos, Goldies, snowballs, and many others so they usually are on point. Guess this one slipped through....

That's what I was going to add.
I guess I'll repost asking for correct identification in that forum.
